In this post, which is a follow-up to this post, http://www.peppercrew.nl/how-to-install-google-chrome-on-a-terminal-server/, I will describe how you can configure Google Chrome on a Terminal Server.
After installing Google Chrome on a Terminal Server you want to configure Google Chrome with group policy’s. I used the policy from this site: The Chromium Projects.
In this policy you want to configure a path where the user data and browser cache are stored. By default the Google Chrome user data is stored under the folder Local Settings, the part of the user profile that does not roam at logoff. If you don’t enter a different path here the user changes in Google Chrome are not saved at logoff. At first I entered the path to the user terminal server home directory (serverTSProfiles%username%ChromeUser Data).
You don’t want to store the browser cache within the users terminal server profile, this will cause the profile to grow over time. The browser cache is best saved under the users terminal server home directory. I configured some changes within Google Chrome and I logged off. When I checked the users terminal server profile I see that there are no changes saved. In both configured folders.
After al lot of searching I found an article that described that Google Chrome does not use the ‘standard’ Windows variables but it used it’s own variables.
The path for the user terminal server profile path should be: ${roaming_app_data}GoogleChromeUser Data.
And the path for the home directory should be: ${local_app_data}GoogleChrome
After this change the user settings are saved and are roaming with the user.
After some time I received the following error from an user; Error stated that the user setting could not be loaded, or there is an new version of Google Chrome. The user can browse, but the user settings are not loaded or saved. The error is that the user data is corrupted. Our user data is stored under the users terminal server profile. In the folder User Data you will find a folder called Default. If you receive this folder you can rename the folder Default to default_backup. If you now start Google Chrome the folder Default is automatically created.
P.s. In the above post I used redirected folders, this is due to the fact that customer did not have budget to use a third party product to solve this issue.

I am little surprised but Google Chrome is not saving/showing passwords for certain sites (Facebook and Google to name a few). I remember it was saving this earlier, but somehow it is not.
What has caused this?
No sites are in the 'Do not save password' list.

In Chrome's settings (navigate to
chrome://settings/
or choose Settings from the.. menu?) make sure that you have both 'Enable Autofill to fill out web forms in a single click' and 'Offer to save passwords I enter on the web' are checked. These are under Passwords and Forms and you'll need to click the link to show advanced settings. Also check that you are signed into Chrome with the account that you intend on being signed in with and that the sync settings are correct. V-ray material presets pro v.4.2.0 torrent software. It could be some weird sync issue where it is saving them until you close and reopen the browser or somesuch.
If all else fails, re-installing Chrome couldn't hurt.

Using a clean new profile was the only way that fixed this problem for me:
- Go to settings via the following URL:
- Click on the Add person.. button to add a new profile
- Make this new Chrome profile your default browser to navigate the web

I had this problem, but I found the solution. With your username and password login to the site, then click the key icon at end of the address bar.

Google Chrome Settings Are Not Saving
MehrdadMehrdad
We have a local server to which I was trying to connect - 'https://bowser.gruff.org/admin'.
When I first connected, I left off most of the URL, just entering 'bowser/admin', which worked (because of sufficiently satisfactory name resolution). However, I got a warning from Chrome (Chromium, actually) that warned that the https site was not secure; I just went into the Advanced settings and told Chrome to ignore the security warning, and was able to log in. But Chrome never prompted me to save my password.
After a couple of days of this, I came and found this site, and after trying other things unsuccessfully, reset my Chrome settings to the default ('Settings' / 'Show advanced settings..' / 'Reset settings'). Then when I reloaded my page, I again got the security error, and noticed the URL address bar had a red flag with https X'd out, and realized maybe Chrome is not saving passwords on insecure https sites.
So I put in the full URL of 'https://bowser.gruff.org/admin', and this time Chrome offered to save my password.
Hopefully this info might help someone.

I had 'Enable Autofill' and 'Offer to save passwords' checked. Also, I didn't see any sites in my 'Never saved'. What fixed it for me was resetting my settings to the default (there is a button on the bottom of the Settings page, in the advanced section).

Unfortunately I've got the same problem even though I checked remember my password and etc.
But this worked for me so I share it with you, go to:chrome://settings/content
and check the recommended option for cookies(something with 'allow to save locally', I don't remember what it exactly was) and click OK. That helped me.

None of these suggestions worked for me. I found a helpful link in the Chrome forum that suggests that this happens because your Chrome profile can become corrupted. Here are the steps to take to create a new profile and get your password saving working again:
Following these steps also caused my previously saved passwords to come back!

While you are signed out you can save passwords.

Just make sure that you did not save the password for the same domain with a different port!
- Chrome is ignoring the port when checking the URL to save or not save.
- But when fill the fields it cares about the port.
I think this is a Bug in Chrome.

Here are few things you can try doing.
- Try deleting existing saved passwords. May be Chrome has a limit on the number of saved passwords.
- Try re-installing the Google Chrome. It might be a bug
- Updating Google Chrome to most recent version

Open Internet Explorer and go to your site. When asked to save the password in IE, say 'Yes'. Mass effect 2 nude. Now go back to Chrome and go to 'settings', now import saved passwords from IE.

I had the same issue with my site. It appeared that email and password input of sign in form had no name attributes. When I added them and refresh page chrome showed me 'save password' popup at the same moment

I went to chrome://settings/content and clicked all cookie and site data.deleted all cookies and chrome started working correctly again.

This is a 'security' feature of Chrome profiles. Chrome does not offer to store passwords for Google (and some other) accounts if you have added your profile to Chrome.
The solution is to:
- Remove yourself (your profile) from Chrome
- Log in to Gmail, FB etc. Chrome will now offer to store thepasswords.
- Add your profile back into Chrome.
Dominic CerisanoDominic Cerisano
Solution:
- Quit Chrome.
- Go to the directory where Chrome stores its user-specific data, below your user home directory:Mac:
~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome
Linux:~/.config/google-chrome
Windows:%UserProfile%AppDataLocalGoogleChromeUser Data
- From there, go into the directory called Default if you want to fix your main profile, or into Profile 1 or Profile 2, etc., to fix one of your extra profiles.
- Delete the files 'Login Data' and 'Logintrue'>1414 gold badges53 silver badges85 bronze badges

In addition to allowing Google to remember passwords in the advanced settings, you also have to allow google to set cookies, otherwise google will continue to ask you to login when you exit and go back in.

If you're using Incognito mode Chrome won't prompt to save your passwords either (even if you have 'Offer to save passwords' enabled).
Tested using Google Chrome v73.0.3683.103.

Besides checking all the recommended chrome settings, i.e. Autofill-ON, Offer to save passwords-ON, as well as setting chrome://flags/#PasswordForceSaving -ON be sure to DELETE (click 'x') the 'Never Saved' list at the bottom of chrome://settings/passwords/.If you have been trying to get a particular site to save your password, and the site tab is still up, delete the tab and restart Chrome and do a fresh browse to that site. Also, I didn't see it documented but if you don't get the 'Save Password' pop-up immediately after all those setting are ON and you have the chrome://flags/#PasswordForceSaving ON then right mouse click (win) after you have entered your password and while the cursor is still in the password box and you should see a pop-up menu with 'Save password' at the top which you should click.I had to do all this a couple of times on some Gov of Canada sites to fix my Not Saving Password problem.

'Open Internet Explorer or Firefox and go to your site. When asked to save the password in IE or Firefox, say 'Yes'. Now go back to Chrome and go to 'settings', now import saved passwords from IE or Firefox' worked for me. Thanks Alex Tvp Storr

In Windows:
C:Users<username>AppDataLocalGoogleChromeUser Data
Inside this folder there is a Temp folder, several global files, and then a folder for each profile. Most settings are profile-specific, so you'll probably want to look in there.
There's probably just one profile, 'Default'. If you delete it, you'll lose all your settings, history, cookies, saved passwords, bookmarks, extensions, etc. Chrome will simply recreate it the next time you run it, however.

No problem on Firefox Nightly. Using Chrome Dev, none of the settings are saved upon quitting the settings page. Is there a 'Save' button that I'm missing? On Firefox it just saves as you change parameters. |

I'll investigate this. It seems to be saving on my Chrome 67 stable, which version are you on? The settings are supposed to save as they are changed. You can try restoring defaults and seeing if that helps. |

@DanaMW thanks for the support. Are you encountering this issue as well? If so, can you share your Chrome version? |

Your more than welcome. I use this programs many many times a day every day lol. And yes as I told you a While back my chrome (Version 69.0.3486.0 (Official Build) dev (64-bit)) has been doing it. I just read in an export on use for now. Some versions even that didn't work as it would depart as fast as the page as I left it. |

I use a fair amount of scripts and style files in Tamper and Stylus (Another great program) so I will do a complete clean out and conflict test this morning for us. |

Chrome Flash Settings Not Saving
I still can't replicate any issue in Windows Version 69.0.3486.0 (Official Build) dev (64-bit). This is on a fresh install of both the extension and Chrome Dev. I'll try it on another OS once I get access to it. It'll be great if anyone is able to post any error logs (extension details > inspect background page and the Errors in the top level). I'm wondering if this is caused by bad settings or the like. Examples of config files (if not sensitive) will be helpful too (Other Settings > Export). |

Sorry for taking so long to reply. Issue seems to be solved for now and been working for a few days now, no problem. I'm using Chrome Dev Version 69.0.3486. I don't know how exactly it started saving the settings but all I did was selecting and deselecting some setting parameters' checkboxes (so it shows that green confirmation icon). That's it. Other wild guess of mine, could it be a windows permission problem? For example Chrome.exe not having privileges to write to the extension's config file. Oh and here are the collected errors from the extension page: And here's my config: |

@ZzzZombi thanks for the logs and the update, and do feel free to report if you notice anything wrong again. Sometimes the new versions have breaking changes that need fixing before they hit stable. Since I don't use Nightly/Canary as my daily drivers I don't have advance warning of when things will break. I don't know what exactly happened in this case, but it'll be annoying if it keeps happening. |
commented Jul 14, 2018
@gyng No problem. I guess let's just say it's one of those 'very rare, weird, only applies to a specific case' kind of bug. I'll make sure to report any future problems. And thanks for this essential extension. |

Thanks for the error. That looks like a problem with my own polyfill. I've been waiting for mozilla/webextension-polyfill to release 0.3.0 (which they just did!), so I'll see if I can get that integrated instead. |

I've published 2.7.2 for Chrome which uses Mozilla's polyfill. I can't replicate the issue locally so I can't tell if this will fix your issue, so please take a look. |
